Today the number of products derived from use of the whole tree is vast. Building materials, paper products and chemicals are all an indispensable part of everyday life. The pine tree, found in the southern United States, Caribbean and Central America, is a very versatile tree with a myriad of uses and strong regenerative capabilities. The Fatwood sticks come from the stump of the pine tree. Early settlers used Fatwood, rich with resin, to start their fires and even for candles, such was the intensity of its burn. At one time the stumps were left in the ground because their removal was too labor intensive. With the evolution of the forest products industry toward environmental responsibility, now virtually every inch of the tree is utilized. This Fatwood product comes only from forests which maintain sustainable yield forestry practices and contains wood only from non-endangered species. This Fatwood is a 100% natural and non-toxic alternative to the other firestarter products on the market today. Liquid starters, wax products and pressboard composites generally do not meet the 100% natural and non-toxic criteria. There have been no chemicals or additives applied to this product. The firestarting capability of this Fatwood is due to the natural concentration of resin in the stump of the tree. Fatwood is both user and environment friendly. For use in: fireplaces; barbecues; campfires; chimeneas; wood & pellet stoves. Produced in Honduras.
