My Daily Record - Dunn, NC 5/8/2006 - Steve Reed / Reporter

More than 2,000 people attended the eighth annual “Down Home Country Breakfast,” sponsored by former State Sen. and Mrs. Oscar Harris, Carlyle McLamb and Mr. and Mrs. Carlie C. McLamb. Among them were scores of political officials and candidates.
The breakfast was held at the Handy McLamb Homestead, at the corner of N.C. 242 South and Jonesboro Road, south of Benson. The Handy McLamb Homestead is the home of Sen. and Mrs. Harris. It was built by Mrs. Harris and Carlyle McLamb’s grandfather and Carlie C. McLamb’s great-grandfather.
Sen. Harris expressed appreciation to those who attended the breakfast.
“We were really blessed with rain last night and beautiful sunshine today,” Sen. Harris said. “I also want to thank the over 100 people who worked on this event.”
The Rev. Tim Rice, pastor of Glad Tidings Church, delivered the invocation.
